STEPS TO DETERMINE YOUR BODY MASS INDEX (BMI)
Simply put, your BMI is your weight to height ratio.WIth its scale, you are able to classify yourself as: underweight, normalweight, overweight (obese) or grossly obese. Now many people dont know how to go about determining theirs, so these simple steps will help you through the process. First off, find your weight in kilograms.. for example 50kg, by stepping on a weight scale. Then find out your height, first in feet (ft). Normally we can determine the BMI only using your height in meters squared.. So lets say you are 5f 2inches. Mulitply 5ft by 12 to convert it to inches (12 inches equals 1ft), that is 5*12 = 60inches then add the 2inches left from d 5ft2inches (60 + 2) - that gives 62inches. This means if your 5ft2 you are 62inches tall. Moving on!. Next we convert this height of yours from inches to centimeters (cm) by muliplying by it 2.5 (2.5cm eqauals one inch). That is 62 *2.5 =155cm. Meaning if you are 62 inches tall you are 155centimeters tall. Finally we convert your height in cm to meters(m) by diving by 100 (as 100cm equals 1m). That is 155/100 = 1.55m and this is your height in meters. This means if you are 155cm tall, you are 1.55m in height. Squaring this height in meters means 1.55 *1.55 = 2.40. For your BMI proper, all you do next to do next is divide your weight by your height in meter suqred. That is 50kg / 2.40. This gives you 20.8 . This your BMI. The body mass index uses a scale of 18 to 30. If your BMI falls below 18 then you are underweight. But if it falls between 18 and 24, you have a normal weight. Falling between 25 to 29 means you are overweight and u need to slow down on eating. Falling on 30 and above means you are grossly overweight. Calculate your BMI today and let me know where you fall. Do not forget to square your height in meters (i.e to multiply it by itself) before diving your weight, its a common mistake!.

ReplyDeleteGood to know.
ReplyDeleteNow why are you giving us this info when Xmas is just around the corner?
You think I'm going to miss out on all those goodies?
Not a chance! lol.
Obviously I was overweight after the last Xmas cos I was 98Kg, giving a BMI of about 27.
I bet a similar situation will be lurking around the corner again this time,
Only that your words will be ringing like a "restraining order" in my head once I see food.
But seriously, the bones play a huge part in this.
People with heavy bones have no option than to watch what they eat.
